Location: Commune of Zè in Benin's Atlantic department.

Number of direct beneficiaries: 36 children.

Type of intervention : One-off food donation.

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION

As part of its social actions in favor of vulnerable groups, the NGO Solidarité Fênou made a visit to the Doctor Leon Obayomi Sacramento orphanage, where 36 orphaned children currently reside.

During this visit, those in charge expressed an urgent need for foodstuffs to ensure the children's daily nutrition. Faced with this critical situation, the NGO decided to mobilize its available resources to make a one-off donation of foodstuffs, in order to temporarily relieve the school's nutritional burden.

This gesture is intended to respond to the emergency, while laying the foundations for renewable aid in line with the NGO's future possibilities.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Provide temporary food support to the “Docteur Leon Obayomi Sacramento” orphanage, to temporarily improve the nutritional situation of 36 children.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES

  • Mobilization of essential foodstuffs (rice, spaghetti, couscous, oil, salt, etc.).

  • Organization of an official food handover ceremony.

  • Prompt education on proper management and balancing of meals.

  • Drafting of a handover report

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • The orphanage benefits from a stock of food to improve the children's diet for a given period.

  • The children benefit from a temporary improvement in their dietary conditions.

  • A relationship of trust is established between the orphanage and the NGO for future actions.

STRATÉGIE DE SUIVI

Although this is a one-off donation, the NGO Solidarité Fênou plans to stay in touch with the orphanage to monitor the use of the food and assess future needs, with a view to renewing the support when resources permit.
