Location: Commune of So-Ava in the Atlantic department of Benin.
Number of direct beneficiaries: 228 pupils.
Type of intervention: One-off donation.
BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
During our field visit on Monday May 26, 2025, our team went to the lakeside village of Gbegbomey to assess the urgent needs of the Public Primary School. This mission was in line with our commitments made at our Board of Directors meeting. After crossing the lake from Ahomey and stopping off at Gbessou, our team arrived in Gbegbomey, where they were warmly welcomed by the village chief.
On site, we found a crying need for school furniture: the vast majority of pupils don't have benches to attend classes in good conditions. This has a direct impact on their concentration, well-being and academic success.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Provide the Gbegbomey public elementary school with new benches to improve learning and working conditions for pupils and teachers.
BENEFICIARY
Students at EPP Gbegbomey: greater comfort in class and an adapted learning posture.
Teachers: easier classroom management.
Village community: enhancement of the local school and encouragement to send children to school.
EXPECTED IMPACT
Increased class attendance.
Improved student concentration and participation.
Increased sense of dignity and pride among learners.
Increased community involvement around the school.
EXPECTED RESULTS
100% of classrooms equipped with benches adapted to the number of pupils.
All students have a seat to follow the lessons in better conditions.
Visible improvement in learning comfort, observed by teachers.
Active participation of local craftsmen in the manufacture of the furniture.
Successful organization of the inauguration ceremony, mobilizing local players.
Creation of a local follow-up committee, ensuring the initiative's sustainability.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Identification of real needs in the field.
Place orders with qualified local craftsmen.
Monitoring of manufacturing and quality control.
Delivery and installation of benches at the school.
Organization of an official inauguration ceremony attended by the village chief, APE president and community players.
Monitoring and evaluation of bench use.
PROJECT DURATION
The project will take three (03) months, from resource mobilization to inauguration.
